The Charleston Metro Chamber names Leonard L. Hutchison III as the recipient of the 2018 Joseph P. Riley Leadership Award.

The annual award will be presented to Hutchison at The Honors, a part of the Chamber’s new event Member-Bration. This prestigious award celebrates a visionary leader doing extraordinary work to strengthen the community. Through an outstanding dedication to impact for the community, the recipient has demonstrated a lifetime of leadership.
Also referred to as the “Big Joe” Leadership Award, the Joseph P. Riley award was initiated in 1992 by the Charleston Metro Chamber. The award was named for one of our region’s finest citizens, the late father of Former Mayor Joe Riley, who was also instrumental in advancing the region.
Hutchison, who has spent much of his career dedicated to advancing the Charleston community, is the Senior Vice President and Area Business Banking Manager of Coastal South Carolina for Wells Fargo & Company. He has been with the company for over 35 years and has been in Charleston for the majority of that time. During his tenure, he has held numerous leadership positions with Wells Fargo and its predecessor banks, Wachovia and First Union.
Active in many community and professional organizations, Len currently serves on the boards of the Charleston Metro Chamber, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, and the Trident Technical College Foundation. He is a current member of the Session of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and the Jr. League of Charleston Community Advisory Board. He is Past Chairman of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Charleston Commissioners of Pilotage and Trident United Way.
Hutchison will be honored for his years of dedication to the Charleston region at the 2018 Member-Bration event on Thursday, November 8 from 5 to 9 p.m., at the beautiful Gibbes Museum of Art. The event kicks off with The Honors reception and pays homage to Hutchison and other outstanding business leaders and organizations who are providing exceptional advancements to the Charleston region.The second part of the evening is The Celebration where guests will experience everything from the delicious tastes from several of our local culinary members, the sounds of the Blue Dogs and unique opportunities to explore the work of the top organizations in the metro.
