Charleston, SC – As polls closed on multiple primary races last night, our business community and region took another step forward as several Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s PAC-endorsed candidates were elected.
A critical key to a thriving business environment is electing pro-business leaders to public office. Recently, the Chamber’s Political Action Committee (CMCC PAC) announced endorsements for Dorchester and Berkeley County Council primary races.
The following endorsed candidates were successful:
Berkeley County Council District 4 Tommy Newell
Dorchester County Council District 2 David Chinnis
Dorchester County Council District 7 Jay Byars
Additionally, CMCC PAC-endorsed Berkeley County Council District 6 candidate Jack Schurlknight won his race with a 45% – 39% margin. However, since neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote, a run-off election will be held on June 24 .
Congratulations to all successful candidates in last night’s primary elections. This fall, CMCC PAC will be heavily involved in key local races in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties.
