The 2014 Leadership Charleston class kicked off the new program year with a two day retreat in September that focused on communications and team building. The start of the 2014 Leadership Charleston program year also marks the beginning of the 40th year of Leadership Charleston. The 10- month program features prominent and stimulating speakers including alumni, along with visits to various community assets including schools, hospitals, the Port of Charleston, military facilities and a trip to the S.C. State House. Leadership Charleston is designed to cultivate the business leaders of today and tomorrow.

Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell speaking recently on the importance of Leadership Charleston said, “It is a great program for growing leaders, for getting people involved, for making sure that folks who will be the leaders in the years to come know what is going on in our community and around the state.” Many graduates find the personal and professional network they build with class members adds value to the skills learned in the program.
