Governor McMaster Expands Non-Essential Business Order to Retail, Limits Hotel and Short Term Rentals

At a press conference late this afternoon, Governor Henry McMaster issued an executive order expanding the list of non-essential businesses ordered to close to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The action builds on an order issued earlier this week. The newly added non-essential businesses are primarily in the retail segment. See the full list below:

– Furniture Stores
– Home Furnishing Stores
– Clothing stores
– Shoe and Clothing Accessory Stores
– Jewelry Stores
– Luggage and Leather Goods Stores
– Department Stores
– Florists
– Sporting Goods Stores
– Book Stores
– Craft and Music Stores

At the same press event today, the Governor also issued an executive order restricting hotels and short term rental properties from renting to guests traveling from CDC identified “hot spots” for COVID-19 outbreaks.
