Honoring All Who Served

Election results, cabinet seats, college football rankings … there are plenty of things to argue about this weekend. As long as you’re civil, go for it! Healthy debate is a cornerstone of our free society.

When you’re chatting on the sideline at a soccer game, over dinner with friends or standing outside after church, make time this weekend to bring up a universally unifying subject: our veterans.

Whether they served in times of war or peace, active duty or reserve, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines or Navy, we all owe a debt of gratitude to the women and men of our armed services.

The Charleston region is home to more than 9,000 veterans. Additionally, military members based here continue to fly sorties into war zones in the Middle East.

Sunday is Veterans Day.

This is a day to reflect on our friends and neighbors who have served to defend this beautiful place we call home and the many freedoms we enjoy. So if you run into a veteran this weekend, or any time really, thank them for their service to our country.
