Bandwidth For Growth Forum: Investing in Charleston’s Future

We believe that the digital economy has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and inspire a new generation of leaders. Comcast has invested $14 million to expand our fiber optic network to support Charleston’s technology needs today and tomorrow. At the same time, we are committed to ensuring that the benefits of the tech economy extend to all members of the community. The Bandwidth For Growth Forum is a series of events to connect leaders from government, business, and education to discuss challenges and opportunities in today’s tech economy.

9:45 – 10:00 a.m. – Digital Inclusion Rally

Comcast will partner with Communities in Schools, the Charleston County School System, the Digital Corridor, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Trident Urban League, and other business, education, and community leaders to expose 50 students from Morningside Middle School to careers in tech and engage in a discussion about the need for equal access to technology for students to realize their full potential.

12:00 – 1:30 p.m. – Diversity in Tech Lunch & Learn

A panel of tech leaders will address diversity and inclusion within Charleston’s tech community and identify opportunities to improve digital equity in the broader community.

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. – Cyber Security & Emerging Technologies

A panel of tech leaders from government, business, and education will discuss malware risks to their respective stakeholders and best practices to mitigate them, as well as current trends in the tech industry and their impact on the Charleston community.

5:15 – 6:15 p.m. – Tech Networking Event

Comcast will host a networking event for people focused on expanding the tech and innovation ecosystem in the Charleston community.
