Due to COVID-19, the Gibbes Museum of Art is cancelling the 11th annual Gibbes on the Street, a one night event that celebrates the city’s extraordinary culinary scene, and will shift their focus to supporting the participating restaurants during necessary COVID-19 related closures.

More than 30 local restaurants were scheduled to participate in the annual spring fundraiser that supports the museum’s visual arts education programs. The museum will begin supporting each restaurant’s communications during the government mandated restrictions by sharing information regarding their status and current offerings with Gibbes members, in order to promote as much business as possible during these trying times.

“These restaurants are reeling from lost business, staff layoffs and closures with no clear path for the future, so we want to shift our attention to helping them,” says Angela Mack, executive director of the Gibbes Museum of Art. “COVID-19 is having a significant impact on the Gibbes Museum and our community of cultural non-profits around the globe. We will do our best to help the creatives of Charleston get through this crippling time in our world’s history.”

The more than 30 local restaurants who planned to participate include 167 Raw Bar, Basic Kitchen, Carmella’s, Charleston Grill, Charleston Place Pastry, Chez Nous, Malagon, Chubby Fish, Circa 1886, Coda Del Pesce, Trattoria Lucca, The Daily at the Gibbes, Edmund’s Oast, The Establishment, Estadio, FIG, The Ordinary, Café Framboise, Grill 225, The Grocery, Halls Chophouse, Slightly North of Broad, Husk, McCrady’s, Minero, Langdon’s, Le Farfalle, Nico, Oak Steakhouse, The Macintosh, The Obstinate Daughter, Wild Olive, Red Drum, Revival and Wildflour Pastry.
