Yappy Hour: A Party in the Dog Park this Spring!

Dogs and their owners are invited to three Yappy Hour events this spring! Charleston County Parks will host this dog-friendly happy hour series in the dog parks at Wannamaker and James Island County Parks this spring, with the first event held April 21 at Wannamaker County Park.

During Yappy Hour, enjoy live music from 5:30-7:30 p.m., while pups explore the dog park and enjoy its amenities. Beer, wine, Coke products and Dasani water will be available for purchase. Yappy Hour is free with park admission ($2 per person or free with the Gold Pass) and no registration is required.

North Charleston Wannamaker County Park will host Yappy Hour on Thursday, April 21 with music by Corinne Letourneau, and on May 5 with music from Pat Cristaldi. The new dog park at Wannamaker County Park opened in October 2020. At six acres in size, the park offers off-leash areas for large and small dogs, plus the “Splash Paw” doggie spray play, a dog washing station, restrooms, benches and shade structures.

The dog park at James Island County Park will host Yappy Hour on Thursday, May 12 with live music from Bennett Coleman. James Island County Park’s off-leash dog park offers areas for large and small dogs alongside the park’s lake. It also features a dog washing area, water fountains, tables, benches and nearby restroom facilities.

Charleston County Parks encourages all dog owners to review the dog park rules as well as our suggestions for pet etiquette, or “petiquette,” before visiting Yappy Hour or the dog parks. ID is required for alcohol purchase. Outside alcohol, food and coolers are prohibited

Yappy Hour is presented by Crews Subaru and Coca-Cola. For more information on Yappy Hour or the dog parks at Wannamaker or James Island County Park, visit CharlestonCountyParks.com.
