A Message from 2022 CYP Chair, Jon Clark

Written by Jon Clark, 2022 CYP Steering Committee Chair

At the beginning of March, we started off the year with another amazing kickoff event for the Charleston Young Professionals at Holy City’s new event space. We had the room packed with young professionals from multiple industries and areas around the tri-county area.

Everywhere you looked there seemed to be great conversations and new connections being formed. This event is always a big highlight for everyone that attends. I mean, who could say no to great drinks with friends and a great view during a sunset?

If you were in attendance, you were able to meet our great steering committee and quickly see how excited we are for this year. The committee is working hard to bring in new experts and programs for everyone in CYP. We plan to host discussions around personal finance, becoming a political leader, health and wellness and more. We’ll also be bringing back our Third Annual Cornhole tournament this year!  Our goal is to help members connect, grow and learn more about the Charleston region.

CYP is a great area to make new connections. When I was talking to someone at the kickoff, a great point was brought up.  You might not make a connection that directly benefits you or your job, but you can connect with someone who may know someone that does. CYP is filled with people that are very well connected and are great at helping others connect. I’ve been in CYP now for 6 years and have made come great connections that have helped me both personally and professionally.

As you look forward to the rest of 2022, keep a close eye on our upcoming events. You will see plenty of opportunities to connect, but also great opportunities to learn and grow. We’ve had a crazy couple of years, and the world is ever evolving.  We want to set you up on the path for success. Take advantage of the great resources CYP has to offer and make sure you take time to join us at some of our events throughout the year.
