PAC Releases Second Slate of Endorsed Candidates

Before the June 14 primary, the Charleston Metro Chamber PAC (CMCC PAC) released the first slate of endorsed candidates for this November. Below is a reminder of the candidates the CMCC PAC has endorsed thus far:

Charleston County Council Endorsements

District 1: Herb Sass

District 5: Teddie Pryor

District 9: Jenny Honeycutt

Dorchester County Council Endorsements

District 2: David Chinnis

District 7: Jay Byars

We are appreciative of all who participated in the PAC interview process, this work could not have been done without our volunteer interview teams. If you are interested in serving on the PAC interview teams next year, please let me know.

The endorsed candidates have been vetted through the PAC interview process, which includes written questionnaire responses and an interview with one of the PAC interview teams. All filed candidates were invited to participate. In each case, the endorsed candidates sought the PAC endorsement, participated in the selection process and have strong alignment with the Chamber’s key policy priorities and strong vision for the future.

Charleston County Council Endorsements

District 8 – Anna Johnson
Ms. Johnson’s three most important issues are affordable housing, traffic congestion and broadband. She is a strong advocate for the completion of I-526 and aims to be representative for all people. If you would like to learn more about her campaign, click here.

Dorchester County Council Endorsements

District 1 – Harriet Holman
Ms. Holman spent 30 years serving in the military and sees her service on County Council as an extension to be able to serve her local community and affect change. She is prioritizing roads, recreation and open space and getting medical facilities to the rural parts of her district. To learn more about her campaign, click here.

District 3 – Rita May Ranck
Ms. Ranck is new to running for elected office. She brings the perspective of a small business owner and a passion for Dorchester County. Her top priorities include efficient government, improving roads and traffic and preserving open space. To learn more about her campaign, click here.

City of Goose Creek Endorsements

Mayor – Greg Habib
Greg is no stranger to the business community. Since his election in 2018, he has worked tirelessly to build a business-friendly environment in Goose Creek. His priorities include economic development, attainable housing and building relationships. To learn more about his campaign, click here.

City of Goose Creek, At Large Endorsements

Sarenia Freincle
As a graduate of the Chamber’s Minority Business Accelerator Program, Ms. Freincle has an appreciation for the priorities of the business community. She is an advocate for smart growth, housing and infrastructure. To learn more about her campaign, click here.

Debra Green-Fletcher
Ms. Green-Fletcher’s professional career as a realtor and service as a City Council-member motivate her to keep the City of Goose Creek not only livable today, but for future generations. She is focused on bringing more housing and transportation options to Goose Creek. She believes strongly in engaging the business community in the planning process.

Jerry Tekac
Mr. Tekac has 12 years of experience serving the city of Goose Creek. He recognizes that economic development is the best way to create a sustainable city with opportunities for all residents. He is a strong advocate for smart planning. To learn more about his campaign, click here.

City of Hanahan Endorsements

Mayor – Christie Rainwater
Ms. Rainwater is a strong advocate for the business community. Her passion and leadership for not just her community but the entire Charleston Region inspires others. We look forward to re-electing her on November 8!

Qualified

Candidates who are deemed qualified, display the necessary characteristic to serve on council, but may not align 100% with the Chamber on our key policies.

Dorchester County Council District 1: Tim Lewis 
Mr. Lewis is running to be the voice of everyday neighbors and for justice, fairness and transparency for our families, neighbors and communities. He holds personal and professional experience regarding many of the local issues that will face County Council. 

Dorchester County Council District 3: Carlisle Harrison 
Mr. Harrison has dedicated his life to public service and looks to continue his servant leadership on County Council. He vows to work in partnership with other council members to support responsible development and infrastructure challenges. To learn more about his campaign, click here.
