The Chamber is excited to support the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs (SCDVA) through its military affairs initiatives.
SCDVA plays a pivotal role in leading a comprehensive statewide coalition of partners, all united by a common goal: to support veterans and service members. This coalition is dedicated to fostering an environment where veterans and service members can excel and contribute meaningfully to the vibrant fabric of South Carolina’s communities.
South Carolina stands out as the premier post-service destination for transitioning service members, a reputation built on the state’s proactive efforts to harness these individuals’ exceptional skills and talents for robust economic development.
The following strategic objectives are designed to assist, enhance and advocate for the success of veterans and their families:
Establish South Carolina as the Preferred Destination
Our aim is to make South Carolina the top choice for transitioning service members by highlighting the state’s opportunities and resources.
Achieve In-Depth Insights
We are committed to comprehensively understanding the transitioning service member population, ensuring we can effectively address their unique needs and preferences.
Facilitate Workforce Integration
Through targeted outreach and initiatives, we will actively recruit transitioning service members into the South Carolina workforce, helping them find meaningful employment that aligns with their skills.
Maximize Veteran Employment Benefits
We will work to optimize the employment of veterans, ensuring that both they and the economy reap the benefits of their expertise and dedication.
Encourage Entrepreneurial Participation
We aim to boost the participation of veterans in entrepreneurial initiatives by providing them with the resources and support necessary to thrive as business leaders.
To achieve these objectives, the Chamber has joined the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Workforce Development (CCWD) Veterans Committee, which is chaired by SCDVA Secretary Todd McCaffrey.
Together, we can make a meaningful impact on our military community.
