It’s easy to criticize elected officials. It’s just as important to recognize them when they get it right.
This week, the Charleston Metro Chamber is proud to announce our 2026 Legislative Champions of Business, recognizing state legislators who have demonstrated a commitment to strengthening South Carolina’s business climate and supporting the communities that drive our economy by voting with our legislative agenda 75% of the time or more.
Election years are rarely easy at the State House. Competing priorities and political pressures can make meaningful progress challenging. Yet, our Champions of Business remained committed to advancing policies that will help South Carolina remain competitive and prepare for the future.
These legislators understand that when businesses succeed, our communities benefit. They also recognize that growth is not something to fear, but something we must plan for and invest in. This year’s progress on SCDOT modernization represents a significant step toward building the infrastructure needed to support our growing state.
Beyond transportation, our Champions helped advance legislation strengthening our military installations, expanding workforce opportunities, reducing costs for small businesses and encouraging continued economic investment.
There is still work ahead, particularly on challenges like housing affordability, childcare accessibility and infrastructure investment. But today, we want to recognize the legislators who helped move South Carolina forward.
To our 2026 Legislative Champions of Business, thank you. Thank you for your leadership, your willingness to listen and your commitment to making South Carolina a place where businesses and families can thrive.
