Alignment and Opportunity Take Center Stage at Impact: Get to Know Our New CEO

Last week, more than 100 business and community leaders gathered at the Segra Club at Riley Park for Impact: Get to Know Our New CEO. The evening marked a special introduction to Kevin Sheilley, who officially stepped into his role as President and CEO of the Charleston Metro Chamber on February 10. Against the backdrop of a stunning marshland sunset and a field maticulously manicured in preparation for Opening Day, attendees had the opportunity to connect with Kevin and hear firsthand about his vision for the Chamber and the region’s future.

Kevin’s message was clear: alignment is key. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Chamber’s work remains mission-driven, responsive to the needs of the business community and supportive of regional partnerships that drive meaningful progress. At the heart of his vision is People First, the Chamber’s strategic plan focused on four critical pillars: attainable housing, workforce education, transit and childcare. Kevin underscored that these aren’t just community issues; they’re business issues, directly affecting workforce participation and economic vitality.

A highlight of the evening was a fireside chat between Kevin and the Chamber’s 2025 Chair, Elizabeth Burwell. Elizabeth’s thoughtful questions led to a dynamic conversation, offering insights into Kevin’s leadership philosophy, professional journey and enthusiasm for Charleston’s future. His strategic approach was evident, but so was his down-to-earth personality, punctuated by plenty of laughter and an engaged audience eager to hear what’s ahead.

Following the discussion, attendees took the opportunity to ask Kevin their own questions, sparking valuable conversations about the opportunities shaping the region. To cap off the discussion portion of the evening, Dave Echols, President and General Manager of the Charleston RiverDogs, presented Kevin with a custom jersey. A fitting welcome to the Lowcountry.

Looking ahead, Kevin is prioritizing relationship-building in his first 90 days, with a goal of making 100 calls to business and community leaders, a testament to his belief in the power of collaboration.

The energy surrounding his leadership is just beginning. The Chamber looks forward to working together to create a thriving, prosperous region for all who call Charleston home. Stay engaged by exploring upcoming Chamber events. There’s plenty more to come!
