The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce seeks a reputable pollster to support a new initiative, Lowcountry Pulse, which will gather public opinion data to better understand how residents across the Charleston metro area view issues that impact the business community and shape our economy. This research will strengthen the Chamber’s advocacy efforts and serve as a resource for elected officials, community leaders and the public.
Scope of Work: The selected pollster will conduct one large, comprehensive poll per year, as well as 2-3 smaller polls focused on specific issues. For each poll, the pollster will survey a representative population of high propensity voters in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties with a targeted margin of error of less than 3%. Additionally, the pollster will provide data for the tri-county region as a whole, but also for each county and larger municipalities across the metro area.
Polling Topics: In coordination with Chamber staff, the selected pollster will draft questions for each poll. For the large annual survey, the Chamber seeks to survey voters on the following issues: growth, trust in government, perceptions of the business community, taxes, housing, livability, education, childcare, data centers, tort reform, infrastructure, and specific infrastructure projects throughout the region. In addition to collecting respondents’ demographic information, the pollster will also survey how the respondent receives their news and stays informed.
Timeline: The Chamber is in the process of securing funds for this initiative. All proposals are requested to be submitted by Tuesday, June 2nd with the goal of publishing the first annual survey in July.
