CYPs in Service: Volunteers Needed!

The Charleston Metro Chamber is seeking young professionals to participate in two volunteer opportunities in November.

Hack-a-Thon with ECPI

On November 3, the Chamber, along with ECPI, will be hosting a Hack-a-Thon for eighth grade students from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Young professionals who have a background or interest in IT are encouraged to share their experience and knowledge with our region’s next generation of cyber security experts. Career Week at Fort Dorchester High School

The week of November 13–17, Fort Dorchester High School will be hosting Career Week, featuring the Medical Industry, Business (Marketing & Entrepreneurship), Arts & Entertainment, Computer & IT and Construction. Young professionals from these fields will have the opportunity to share their career paths and answer questions from over 100 students. A full schedule of sessions can be found below.   • 9:30–11:00 a.m.
  • 11:06 a.m.–12:36 p.m.

  • Tuesday, November 14: Business (Marketing/Entrepreneurship)
  • Wednesday, November 15: Arts & Entertainment
  • Thursday, November 16: – Computer & IT
  • Friday, November 17: Construction

Charleston Young Professionals focuses its efforts on attracting, retaining and developing young professionals in our region through four key pillars: Connections, Policy, Professional Development and Service.

Through the Service pillar, CYP members are encouraged to volunteer and contribute to organizations that are making essential impacts on our communities to advance our region. Recently, Erika LeGendre, CYP Steering Committee member and Director of Marketing and Communications at the College of Charleston School of Business, provided a behind-the-scenes look at her day volunteering with the Charleston Friends of the Library.
