Thrive Event Encourages Attendees to Harness Their Super Power and Circle

We often talk about the importance of mentorship and how essential it is to have someone who advocates for you, but how do we find mentors and how can we learn to pay it forward for others who are starting on their career paths?

Recently, at a Thrive event focused on women empowering women, attendees learned from moderator, LaVanda Brown with YWCA Greater Charleston, and panelists, Kimberly Butler Willis with GOODSTOCK Consulting, Sarah Castle with Castle Coaching & Consulting, Danielle Hardee with We are Sharing Hope SC, Taneka Reaves with Cocktail Bandits and Jamie Tozzi, Leadership Coach and Former Microsoft Executive.

This powerful panel discussed how to start a good mentor/mentee relationship, how a mentor changed them for the better and the best advice they received.

Top 5 Takeaways

  1. To start a good mentor/mentee relationship, be intentional about what you want out of the relationship
  2. Mentors don’t have to look like you or do what you do – seek out people you can learn from
  3. Find your circle – Purpose, Passion and Profitability – whose guidance can help you reach your goals?
  4. When looking for a mentor, look for someone that is starting the journey you are on or about to embark on
  5. What sets you apart from others? That’s your superpower – utilize it!

“If you don’t recognize my greatness that’s bad taste on your part.”

Danielle Hardee, We Are Sharing Hope SC

It is rare to have a panel of leaders speak to a room of over 130 women and it still feel relatable and intimate. The women in the room represented all levels of career and received valuable advice to utilize in their lives.
