MBA Spotlight: David Nesbit – G&L Charters and Tours

The 2024 Lowcountry Minority Business Accelerator Cohort is off to a great start, with 21 businesses participating in this year’s session. As these businesses take steps toward growth, the Chamber would like to introduce you to the cohort members so you can learn a little bit more about the entrepreneurs and businesses growing in our region.

Business: G&L Charters and Tours, LLC

2024 MBA Cohort Member: David Nesbit

Industry: Charter Bus Services

Location: North Charleston, SC

Website: gandlchartersandtoursllc.com

Tell us about your business.

We provide charter bus service throughout the Southeast. We work for schools, churches, colleges, family groups, etc..

What motivated you to become an entrepreneur?

I wanted to do something that I could enjoy and make a difference in the community and increase the revenue for my family. I didn’t want to just survive, I wanted to make a difference.

Is there something you are particularly proud of in your business?

I am proud of the fact that we are debt free at this time.

What is one thing you want others to know about you and/or your business?

I am the first in my family to attempt to run my own company, and the name of the company is the initials of my parents. I always wanted to make them proud. That is a part of my motivation.

What made you want to participate in the Lowcountry Minority Business Accelerator?

I wanted to learn how to properly run a business. There are several areas that I realized I was not very knowledgeable about. I didn’t want to spend years and thousands of dollars making mistakes. This is a great opportunity to learn and make great connections.

What advice would you give to other minority business owners?

Please take advantage of any programs available to you. Please don’t go at it alone. Build relationships, join your local chamber of commerce. Never stop learning.
