Government Relations Team Receives Insights in USCG Expansion in Charleston

For over 230 years, Charleston has been a Coast Guard base of operations and by the year 2030, Coast Guard Sector Charleston is anticipating doubling the number of Coasties in the region. This past week, members of the Chamber’s Government Relations team, along with representatives from Congressman Clyburn, Congresswoman Mace, Senator Scott and Senator Graham’s offices, had the opportunity to visit with members of the Coast Guard to learn more about the future development of USCG Base Charleston and the impact it would have on our region.

To account for the expansion of USCG Base Charleston, the Coast Guard is engaging with federal, state and local partners to aid in the long-term plans and strategies to grow their presence in the Lowcountry.

If you are interested in learning more about how you or your organization can engage in advocating for our local armed forces members, contact Bailey Vincett at bvincett@charlestonchamber.org.
