The Audit & Finance Committee’s purpose is to assist the Board of Education in fulfilling its financial and auditing oversight responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have medium-large corporation work experience in Finance, Financial Auditing, Banking, Economic Development, Business Management, or Information Technology.
  • Must be willing to commit to a minimum of one (2-4 hour) meeting monthly. Additional meetings may be called as the business requirements of the Committee dictate. Additional meetings are not anticipated to exceed one meeting per month.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently or previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a large organization, defined as employing greater than 1,500 people with annual revenue in excess of $200 million.
  • Experience in overseeing and managing auditing processes and internal control systems within a large organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and directing the financial planning activities of a large organization.

The Committee serves solely in an advisory capacity making recommendations to the Board on financial and audit related matters. Committee responsibilities include review of the District’s interim financial reports, recommending policies that maintain and improve the financial health and integrity of the District, and oversight of the internal and external audit functions.

Interested community members are asked to submit a resume and letter of interest outlining qualifications by March 29, 2024 to tenecia_tolbert@charleston.k12.sc.us or Tenecia Tolbert, CCSD Finance Division, 3999 Bridgeview Dr, North Charleston SC 29405.

Employees and contractors of the District or immediate family members are not eligible to serve on the Committee.

The present Audit and Finance Committee will review applications and make recommendations to the CCSD Board of Trustees who will approve the new committee members.
