Personal Care Aide Position

Job description: 

Palmetto Family Homecare is a faith-based independent provider dedicated to delivering compassionate in-home care services across the Lowcountry region. We specialize in caring for individuals with ALS, MS, Parkinson’s, Autism, and other complex health conditions, emphasizing a family-oriented approach rooted in the values of Compassion, Education, Reliability, and Building Relationships. 

Overview 

We are seeking energetic and dedicated Personal Care Aides to support clients living with ALS and other neurological conditions. In this vital role, you will provide personalized assistance to enhance our clients’ quality of life by helping with daily activities, ensuring safety, and offering compassionate companionship. Responsibilities 

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support 
  • Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs and overall condition; report changes promptly 
  • Support patients with meal preparation and feeding to promote proper nutrition and hydration 
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance 
  • Maintain accurate care plans and document patient progress while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality 
  • Perform light cleaning duties to uphold a safe and hygienic environment within the home or care setting 
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive and engaging atmosphere 

Experience 

  • Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments preferred 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, or hospice care is highly desirable 
  • Experience assisting individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus 
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in patient observation and medication administration is advantageous 
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, patient monitoring techniques, and safety procedures such as heavy lifting or using Hoyer lifts is beneficial 
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with healthcare teams and family members
