Leadership Charleston Takes Flight with Joint Base Charleston for Military Day Experience

Recently, the 50th class of Leadership Charleston visited Joint Base Charleston (JBC) for the annual Military Day.

Military Day provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at military operations in our own backyard. JBC graciously planned a day full of information and experiences that bring a new perspective to day-to-day operations on base.

Class participants had the opportunity to document their day to help share the civic and economic impact the base, enlisted personnel and civilian personnel have on our region. The culmination of the videos and photos above would not be possible without the generosity of the class in sharing their perspective on the day.

This year’s trip included:
– A preflight briefing from Colonel Freeman of the 628th Air Base Wing and Colonel Todd of the 437th Airlift Wing.
– Experiencing a flight in a C-17, including a cargo drop and assault landing demos.
– Runway access for touch-and-go flight training.
– Panel discussion providing insight on how military units work with civilian contractors.
– K-9 officer live demo.
– Fire training demonstrations.
– Sessions with enlisted personnel providing insights into the day-to-day operations on base.

The Chamber would like to thank Joint Base Charleston for being a gracious host and providing memories that will last a lifetime.
