Charleston Parks Conservancy Announces the 14th Annual Teddy Bear Picnic

Join us for the 14th annual Teddy Bear Picnic presented by Dominion Energy – Where the Wild Things Are edition! This cherished tradition takes on a new theme this year and will be held on Sunday, March 3rd, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Hampton Park. Embrace the spirit of the Wild Things by dressing up as your favorite character and get ready to explore, learn, and play with Charleston Parks Conservancy!

Don’t forget to bring your favorite stuffed animal for a day of adventure in Hampton Park! The Charleston Parks Conservancy has invited all our friends to partake in the festivities. Throughout the park, 15+ community partners will be stationed, engaging kids in programs focused on Horticulture & Nature, Health & Wellness, Community Gardening, and Public Art. Be sure to stay for the Wild Rumpus Teddy Bear Parade, ending the day with a triumphant “roar!”

In our 14th year of Teddy Bear Picnic, we’ve amplified the experience with even more live entertainment, a food truck village, concessions stand, and lots of new activities for kids aged 2-10, ensuring the entire family can revel in the fun! Children are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal from home for the outing, and the Teddy Bear ER sponsored by Access Urgent will have “doctors” on-site in case of any necessary repairs. Please note that we will no longer be distributing free stuffed animals.

Don’t miss special performances by Kyle K’Otic, The V-Tones of Charleston, Watoto Academy of the Performing Arts, and Creative Edge Dance Studio!

We invite families to bring a picnic lunch, blankets, and chairs to enjoy an afternoon in the park. For everyone’s safety, including our staff and volunteers, picnic area setup is permitted after 12:30 pm due to vendor preparations.

Parking will be available in the bike lanes along Mary Murray Drive (parked nose to bumper) and on side streets surrounding Hampton Park.

The event and activities are all free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. This event is rain or shine so make sure to plan accordingly!
