James I. Ward IV Joins Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s Charleston Office

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. is pleased to welcome James I. Ward IV to our Charleston office, where he will join the firm’s litigation and local government practices as special counsel.

James brings a multidisciplinary legal background that spans municipal government service, judicial clerking and private practice. He most recently served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where he advised Town leadership and departments on a variety of issues, including land use and zoning, environmental regulations, municipal finance, and labor and employment matters. James’ experience in this role well positions him to serve clients across a range of complex disputes and regulatory matters.

In addition to his public sector practice, James handles business and contract litigation, as well as real estate transactions, including title review and the closing of complex property matters. He also advises individuals on estate planning and probate matters, delivering practical, solutions-oriented guidance tailored to each client’s needs.

James earned his J.D. from Charleston School of Law in 2018 and his B.A. from Clemson University in 2014. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Municipal Attorneys Association and Bishop England High School Alumni Association.
