Shaping Futures Through Hands-On Experience: 2024 Career Exploration Fair & Build-A-Shed

Hands-on experience was the theme of the day at the 2024 Trident Regional Career Exploration Fair and Build-A-Shed, held at Exchange Park in Ladson, SC.

More than 1,100 students from Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties came together to immerse themselves in potential career pathways.

Inside, at the Career Exploration Fair, students had the opportunity to engage with local businesses and gain hands-on experience in jobs, skills and trades that can shape each student’s individual career pathway.

While students explored inside, over 50 students and contractors were outside, competing in the Build-A-Shed competition. Students from six local high schools worked with professional contractors to construct custom sheds, from the floor up. At the end of the day, judges compiled scores based on categories such as safety and completeness to determine a winner. Congratulations to the following schools for competing and obtaining unparalleled experience!

Build-A-Shed teams included:

First Place: Lucy Beckham High School
Second Place: Berkeley High
Third Place: James Island Charter School
East Cooper Center for Advanced Studies
Baptist Hill High School
Cross High School
